How Has Music Helped You Recover From Addiction? Depression? Other Challenges and Obstacles?

I would like to interview those in recovery who have been helped by music

I am a psychologist who has worked for many years with patients who are in early sobriety or recovery. I would be interested in speaking with those who have been helped by music and would be willing to share as part of a book project. I am a grateful family member and an admirer of Bill W. and Dr. Bob. I understand and respect anonymity,

In my own recovery work, music has helped me in many ways. Chris Smither has written many songs about recovery from addiction that capture the confusion and emotional roller coaster of early recovery. The one that resonates most for me is "Open Up." The Chicago song "Saturday in the Park" is one of my mood elevators in the dar moments of winter.

As a psychotherapist, I have used songs by Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel, Smither, The Rolling Stones, Jennifer Hudson, and others. There is something about a song lyric that is very different from a didactic presentation or feedback from a therapist.

If you would like to talk, and maybe participate, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Thank you!

Steve
